JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2017

2017 Ausralian Championships - Overall National Awards

During the Australian Championships opening ceremony, annual awards were presented to skaters, coaches and others who have made outstanding contributions to Australian Artistic Roller Skating.  We are very proud to have some recipients of these awards from Pine Rivers Rollercade!  A small recognition of the massive amount of time and effort contributed at a club and individual level for the following:

Jodie Johnson-Garufo - Coach of the Year
Teresa Chittick            - Senior Skater of the Year
Megghann Thomas      - Queensland Rising Star
Robert McPhail             - Queensland Volunteer of the Year

In addition to these awards and as part of the Opening Ceremony, Cassandra Sellars read the official championship athletes oath and Mellissa Smith sang the Australian National Anthem.

Australian Team for World Roller Games

Our Club is very fortunate to be represented by extremely hard working and talented skaters. The following skaters have worked incredibly hard to achieve National selection for the World Roller Games in Nanjing, China 2017. JANUARY TO MARCH 2017

2017 Easter Roller Dance Experience

Coach Jodie Johnson-Garufo and five of our skaters travelled to Europe for the 2017 Easter Roller Dance Experience.  Jodie, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Megghann Thomas and Sophia Garufo trained in Portugal before competing in the Chapatin Roller Cup held in Matosinhos Portugal 6-9 April 2017.  Cassandra Sellars joined the group who travelled to Paris in France to train and then compete in the Issy-Paris Roller Dance Competition 15-17 April 2017.

OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2016

World Artistic Championships 2016

We would like to congratulate and welcome back Rory Armfield, Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick, Melanie Gollagher, and Cassandra Sellars who travelled to Novara Italy with Coach Jodie Johnson-Garufo, as part of the Australian Team to compete in the 2016 World Artistic Roller Skating Championships from 26th September to the 9th October 2016.  It takes great talent, years of training, dedication and sacrifice to reach the very top level in our chosen sport and we are very proud to have such elite skaters and coach in our Club.  Our skaters competed strongly in their respective events which are shown as follows:

2016 International Figures Seminar

The 2016 International Figures Seminar was presented by Maricarmen Sanjuan on 4 and 5 November at Skateaway Albany Creek, Mt Warren Park Sports Centre and Digi Rollerskating, Hillcrest.  Maricarmen is a Figure Specialist and Coach for the Argentinian Team 2006-2007.

Our skaters who participated in this seminar were Mackenzie Bugden, Harper Connors, Ainsley Eenink, Quinn Eenink, Abbie Glen, Caitlyn Glen, Sophia Garufo, Sophie Grimshaw, Kya Michal-Bax, Mia Michal-Bax and Imogen Thomas.

2016 International Dance Seminar

The 2016 International Dance Seminar was presented by Hugo Chapouto on 23 and 24 November at Mt Warren Park Sports Centre and Digi Rollerskating, Hillcrest.  Hugo won the Men’s Senior Solo Dance Events at the World Artistic Skating Championships in 2009 and 2010.  Hugo has coached champions and placegetters in both European and World championships and he is leading the dance commission put together by the World Federation of International Roller Sports (FIRS) Technical Committee.

Oceania Championships 2016

Congratulations to the skaters from Pine Rivers Rollercade who competed at this international event which was held in Wanganui New Zealand from the 2nd to the 5th September 2016. 

Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Mellissa Smith and Megghann Thomas, along with our coaches, Jodie Johnson-Garufo and Teresa Chittick proudly represented Australia and the positive values inherent in our Club spirit at these championships.   Our skaters report that they had a really enjoyable experience and that all competitors had positive performances, with some medals as a bonus.

We would like to acknowledge what a fantastic achievement it is to have represented your country at an international event and we are very proud of all of you.

Queensland State Championships Awards

At the 2016 Queensland State Championships, Pine Rivers Rollercade was extremely successful.  This included a number of special awards and achievements.  They included:

OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2015

Hugo Chaputo International Dance Seminar

Over two weeks in Sydney and Brisbane, nominated skaters from Pine Rivers Rollercade and many from other clubs around Australia were fortunate enough to participate in a seminar offered by Hugo Chapouto.  Hugo is an inspiring, world class roller skater who has won at Worlds in 2009 and 2010 in Senior Men’s Solo Dance and has also coached European Champions and Champions in World Roller Skating Championships.

For the lucky participants, Hugo was a true professional, imparting his years of experience and wealth of knowledge. His words and advice had a profound impact on all skaters.  Special thanks also to Jodie Johnson-Garufo, for affording our skaters this amazing opportunity.

Special Award
Pine Rivers Rollercade Roller Sports Club Inc. would like to acknowledge the Councillors Small Grants Program of the Redland City Council and to also congratulate Cassandra Sellars for being awarded a grant from this program for representing Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Columbia.

 

JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2015

2015 Australian Artistic Skating Championships
Congratulations to all the skaters who competed in the 2015 Australian Championships held in Adelaide during the first week in July!  Our club had 16 talented skaters together with their coaches.  Our skaters’ performances contributed strongly to Queensland winning the Overall, Figures and Dance trophies.  Congratulations to all competitors, you have done the Club and your State proud and are extraordinary role models for aspiring club members.  Well done!

World Artistic Championships: Cali Columbia

We would like to welcome back Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick, Melanie Gollagher, Cassandra Sellars and Nicholas Singh who travelled to Cali, Columbia with Coach Jodie Johnson-Garufo, as part of the Australian Team and competed in the 2015 World Artistic Roller Skating Championships.  It takes great talent, years of training, dedication and sacrifice to reach the very top level in our chosen sport and we are very proud to have such elite skaters and coach in our Club.  Our skaters competed strongly in their respective events which are shown as follows:

Oceania Championships 2015
Congratulations to the skaters from Pine Rivers Rollercade who competed at this international event which was held at Mt Warren Sports Centre from the 6th to the 10th April 2015.  Rory Armfield, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Drew Copeland, Kathleen McPhail, Cassandra Sellars and Megghann Thomas, along with coaches, Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick and Teresa Chittick, report that they had a really enjoyable experience and that all competitors had outstanding skates, the group finishing with several medals. We would like to acknowledge what a fantastic achievement it is to have represented your country at an international event

Queensland Championships 2015
Congratulations to all of our Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters who competed in the Queensland Championships for 2015.  This competition was held at Mt Warren Park from 1-3 May 2015. JANUARY TO MARCH 2015

A number of Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters and coaches participated in the very successful Cristina Moretti/ Jayson Sutcliffe Sk8Camp Seminar for Figures and Freeskating at Mt Warren Sports Centre 23-25 January 2015.

Novice League: Congratulations to all the skaters who participated in the First Round of the Novice League on Sunday 15th February 2015.  For some skaters it was their first competition and they all did an amazing job. Results for individual skaters are shown in the Results Page of this web site.

OCTOBER TO DECEMBER 2014

Elementary League: Round three of the Elementary League was held at Skateaway, Albany Creek on 19 October. 2014 Show Skate Results: On Sunday 14th December a number of skaters travelled to Mt Warren Park for the annual show skate competition.  It was a fun day with amazing displays of creative talent from all skaters!  Pine Rivers Rollercade was well represented and all skaters performed to the best of their ability on the day.   Keep your eyes peeled during the holidays for some of these wonderful skaters demonstrating their talents during regular skate sessions.

2014 AUSTRALIAN ARTISTIC TEAM – WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Based on their respective performances skating at the Australian Championships in Beenleigh, Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Jeus, Spain in September 2014.  These skaters are Teresa Chittick and Melanie Gollagher. Representing your country is an honour gained by only the top competitors in any sport and this is an outstanding achievement for these skaters.

2015 AUSTRALIAN ARTISTIC TEAM - OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS As a result of their individual performances skating at the Australian Championships in Sydney, a number of our Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships at Mt Warren Sports Centre, Beenleigh in April 2015.  These skaters are Rory Armfield, Sonya Brown, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Breeana Copeland, Drew Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Kathleen McPhail, Nicholas Singh, Cassandra Sellars and Megghann Thomas.  Representing your country is an honour gained by only the top competitors in any sport and this is an outstanding achievement for these skaters.

APRIL - JUNE 2013

2013 Queensland Artistic Roller Sports Championships

These championships were held at the Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre in June.  As a result of their achievements at these Championships, there are a number of our Club skaters who were selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Championships in Perth in September. 2013 Queensland Prep States

Prep States were held in conjunction with the Queensland Championships at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre.  Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters achievements resulted in our Club tieing for Third place overall. Results for individuals are also shown on the Results Page of this web site.

2013 Oceania Championships

Our skaters have returned from Sydney where they represented our club, Queensland and Australia in the Oceania Championships, held at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool in western Sydney. Live streaming of the event allowed those of us at home to witness the magnificent skating that took place.  We are very proud of our skaters (Bianca Burow, Hannah Cole, Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher and Jaidan Hall) who participated in this competition. The standard of skating was extremely high and all our competitors should be proud of their skating performances. Congratulations go to all our competitors, with a special mention of our two medallists, Bianca Burrow and Teresa Chittick who placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Senior International Dance event.

JULY - SEPTEMBER 2012

The 2012 Australian Artistic Championships was held at the Whitlam Centre, Liverpool in Sydney.  We extend our congratulations  to Kathleen McPhail who was elected as Chair of the Australian Artistic Committee (AAC) at the annual general meeting.  We also extend our thanks to those members who are involved in the organisation and running of this huge event including our commissioned officials (Diane Chittick as A Panel Referee; Kathleen McPhail as AAC Executive and Referee and Robert McPhail as Calculator) and to the parents and coaches (including Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Kathleen McPhail, Bianca Burow, Vanessa Butson and Teresa Chittick) whose support and commitment has made it possible for the competitors to reach this level of skating. Drew Copeland, Mikayla Goldspink and Nicholas Singh were our skaters competing for the first time at Nationals.  Representing Queensland at the National Championships is a great honour.  Further information about our Pine Rivers Rollercade Queensland Team skaters and their respective competition events are included in the Results Page of this web site.

APRIL - JUNE 2012

We congratulate and send our best wishes to the fourteen club members who have worked so hard to represent Queensland at the National Championships in Sydney. These skaters are Domynique Air, Sonya Brown, Bianca Burrow, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Breeana Copeland, Drew Copeland, Mikayla Goldspink, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Anabel Jakob, Courtney McVie and Nicholas Singh.

2012 Queensland Artistic Roller Sports Championships

These championships were held at the Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre in early May.  Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters achievements resulted in our Club placing Third overall. As a result of their achievements at these Championships, there are 14 of our Club skaters who were selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Championships in Sydney in July. 2012 Queensland Prep States

Prep States were held in conjunction with the Queensland Championships at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre.  Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters achievements resulted in our Club placing First overall. Results for individuals are also shown on the Results Page of this web site.

2012 Oceania Championships

Our skaters have returned from New Zealand where they represented our club, Queensland and Australia in the Oceania Championships, held at Waitakere in New Zealand's North Island. Live streaming of the event allowed those of us at home to witness the magnificent skating that took place.  We are very proud of our skaters (Bianca Burow, Hannah Cole, Teresa Chittick, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall and Courtney McVie) who participated in this competition. JANUARY - MARCH 2012

Skating is well and truly underway for the year with many of our skaters participating in the Michael Obrecht Figures and Freeskating Seminar at Carrara and the Gawaine Davis Dance Seminar at Albany Creek in January. We would like to thank Marty Surman for his support which allowed our skaters and coaches to benefit from the expertise in the dance seminar held at Albany Creek.

Round 1 of the Novice Challenge for 2012 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway in late February. This is the first competition for the year. Our young skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Round 1 of the Advanced League for 2012 saw a very full day of high level skating at Runaway Bay on 11 March 2012.  Our thanks go to the organisers, judges and officials for the smooth running of the event. Results for individual club skaters are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Round 1 of the Elementary League for 2012 was held at Rollerdrome Caloundra on the 25th March 2012. Our thanks go to the organisers, judges and officials for the smooth running of the event.  Results for individual club skaters are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2011

Christmas Show Skate for 2011 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium.  There was a strong club participation in this year's event with about 20 of our skaters competing. Our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Pine Rivers Rollercade Club Championships for 2011 were held at Albany Creek Skateaway.  This was the first experience in an artistic skating competition for a number of our Artistic Development Class skaters.  All competing skaters received participation medals.  Many of our skaters were in events where they do not normally compete or where the events were above their normal levels of competition.

I would like to thank Marty Surman for his strong support for our club championships, including donating rink hire time and Jodie Johnson-Garufo for mentoring our coaches.  I would also like to thank the officials who contributed actively to the running of the championships including Brett Johnston, Denise Wilson, Tony Keogh, Vanessa Butson, Mark Springett and Helen Lloyd-Jones.

Australian Championships for 2011 were held at Dandenong Netball Centre in Melbourne.  Individual experiences at Nationals ranged from first appearances to achieving multiple gold medals. There were 16 Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters who were selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Artistic Championships in Melbourne.  These skaters are Domynique Air, Lisa Brown, Sonya Brown, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Kellie Hall, Anabel Jakob, Bryan Lloyd-Jones, Courtney McVie, Karen Osborne and Joel Young. Overall, our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

2011 Australian Artistic Team – World Championships

Based on their respective performances skating at the Australian Championships in Adelaide, some Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Brazil in November 2011.  These skaters are:

Bianca Burow (Senior International Solo Dance),Teresa Chittick (Senior International Solo Dance) and Kelsey Chittick (Junior International Solo Dance).

MAY 2011

Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Bethany McKernan, Courtney McVie and Karen Osborne.  Congratulations go to all of our skaters who achieved at least one gold medal each, which is an outstanding achievement. APRIL 2011

Round 1 of the Elementary League for 2011 was held at Digi Skate Centre, Hillcrest.  This was the first competition for some of our skaters at this level.  Pine Rivers Rollercade members who contributed to the conduct of the event included our commissioned officials (Kathleen McPhail, Robert Mcphail and Diane Chittick) and Corinne Copeland as a referee.  Overall, our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the results page of this web site.

There have been two Proficiency Test centres conducted recently on Sunday 27 February 2011 at Albany Creek Skateaway and on Sunday 10 April 2011 at Runaway Indoor Stadium.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a high pass rate. 

Ten Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast in April 2011.  These skaters are Lisa Brown, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Bethany McKernan, Courtney McVie and Karen Osborne.

We wish all the best to our skaters in representing Australia at these championships.

JANUARY TO MARCH 2011

The Australian Artistic Committee presented the High Performance Development Camp with Australian coaches Allan Wehlow & Tamera Russell (Figures), Gawaine Davis (Dance), Susan Brooks (Freeskating) with additional guest coaches Karen Olsen and Anita Lloyd-Jones and assistance by Aleesha Hanczakowski,.  The Development Camp was held on Saturday 22 / Sunday 23 January at Runaway Bay Sports Stadium.  Those invited included Skate Australia Competitive members (including Masters), Coaches of all levels and Officials.  There were 21 Pine Rivers Rollercade club members who participated in the seminar.

The first major Proficiency Test of 2011 was held on Sunday 13 February at Runaway Bay Sports Stadium.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a very high pass rate.  One of the highlights included Teresa Chittick, who attained the prestigious Gold Medal in Solo Dance.

An additional Proficiency Test was held on Sunday 27 February at Albany Creek Skateaway.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a very high pass rate.

Round 1 of the Novice Challenge for 2011 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway.  This was the first competition for some of our skaters.  Overall, our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Round 1 of the Advanced League for 2011 was held at Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium. Our skaters performed well, including those in this League for the first time and those moving to higher grade of competition.  Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

DECEMBER 2010

Christmas Show Skate for 2010 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium.  The main focus of the club’s involvement in Show Skate was the Large Group event, which involved a team effort from all the club members and their parents to produce an excellent outcome.  Jodie Garufo choreographed an entertaining and technically challenging skating routine (Happy Birthday Princess) that was well appreciated by both the judges and the general public.  Most of the 54 skaters involved were Pine Rivers Rollercade members with the other skaters being hockey players from the Pine Rivers Dragons club and a hockey referee.

Contributing to the success of the final performance included:
>The coaches that helped keep the routine on track while Jodie  was away at the World Titles
>The team procuring costumes and the parents who helped with costume changes during the performance
>The team obtaining smaller size props and placing them at various points for the performance
>The team building, transporting and moving into place large props, including the ‘cake’ structure.

 

NOVEMBER 2010

I would like to thank Marty Surman for his strong support for our club championships, including donating rink hire time and Jodie Johnson-Garufo for mentoring our coaches.  I would also like to thank those who contributed actively to the running of the championships including Diane Chittick, Lisa Duell, Bev Folland and Bev Wan (as referees), Kathryn Ball, Jim Beard, Brett Johnston, Christine Keogh, John Lane and Mark Springett (as judges), Jasmin Ball and Helen Lloyd-Jones (as calculators) and Adam Clough and Bryan Lloyd-Jones for partnering our skaters in the drawn partners events.

Fundraising

Your support of fundraising ventures so far this year has enabled positive financial assistance for our skaters.  The latest fundraising project was to assist our skaters (Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick and Kelsey Chittick) who represented Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Portugal. 

I would like to thank Riverlife Adventure Centre and the Story Bridge Hotel for donating multiple prizes and John Pettigrew who arranged for the donations.  The prizes were:

  1. two people to any Daytime Adventure activity
  2. two people to the Saturday night paddle and barbecue experience
  3. two Story Bridge Climbs
  4. $100 voucher to the Story Bridge Hotel for food and beverage

Marty Surman conducted the prize draw during the Showskate practice.

SEPTEMBER 2010

Competitions

Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Advanced League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club achieved 3rd Place overall for 2010.

Round 3 of the Elementary League for 2010 was held at Epic Skate Centre, South Tweed with strong performances from our skaters. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Elementary League. Congratulations go to Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters who won 1st Place overall for 2010.

Fundraising

The skating Fundraiser Night at Albany Creek Skateaway on 1 September 2010 to raise funds for skaters going to Nationals 2010 was an outstanding success.  I would like to acknowledge and thank the contributions of a range of people who contributed to the success of this event and these people are listed as follows:

  1. Marty Surman and his team at Skateaway Albany Creek for successfully hosting the fundraiser
  2. Marty Surman for arranging the production of professionally designed publicity flyers
  3. Vanessa Butson, Bianca Burow and Teresa Chittick who planned the event
  4. Members who made cash donations and
  5. Everyone who made the effort to support our Nationals skaters by attending the event.

Raffle tickets were sold over the past few weeks and the raffle was drawn on the Fundraiser Night.  I would like to acknowledge and thank those who donated prizes and those members who arranged these donations.

The Tool Kit Raffle prize was proudly donated by Vince Zenoni, Director of C & L United Tools at Hendra: John McVie arranged for this donation.  The Blanket Raffle Prize was donated and arranged by Corinne Copeland.

AUGUST 2010

Round 3 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium on 8 August. This was the first competition for our Novice Challenge skaters on a larger size wooden floor. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

A Fundraiser night is being planned to raise funds for our skaters who are representing Queensland at the Australian Artistic Roller Sports Championships in Adelaide this October. The fundraiser is scheduled for 6.30 pm on 1 September 2010 at Albany Creek Skateaway.

JULY 2010

Lisa Brown, Bianca Burow, Bethany McKernan and Vanessa Butson represented Australia at the Oceania Championships in Wanganui in New Zealand. They all skated well and Bianca Burow achieved a 2nd Place result in Senior International Solo Dance.

Round 2 of the Secondary League was held at Bundamba Skateaway in mid July.  Our club members achieved good overall outcomes, with the results for individuals shown on the Results Page of ths web site.

Elementary League Round 2 was held at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Complex at the very end of June.  Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

JUNE 2010

The Queensland Artistic Roller Sports Championships and Queensland Prep States were held concurrently on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, 12-14 June 2010.  These form the premier events on the Queensland artistic skating calendar for the year. The Championships and Prep States attract skaters from all over the State.

Our skaters performed outstandingly at the Queensland Championships, with the club skaters achieving a Third Place Overall. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Congratulations go to our skaters who performed outstandingly with the club receiving the First Place Overall Trophy for Queensland Prep States. This competition is open to skaters in the Advanced, Secondary and Elementary leagues for competition in a championship environment with open scoring. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Continuing this month’s skater achievements is Teresa Chittick, who competed in international competition at the California Memorial Invitational held in California in the USA.  Teresa achieved a 2nd Place result in Senior World Class Solo Dance. Congratulations go to Teresa on this fine achievement.

MAY 2010

May 2010 was a very busy month with achievements and milestones for our skaters.

Round 2 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway on 2 May. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page. On the same day, there was a Proficiency Test conducted for our club members and our skaters achieved a very high pass rate.

A skating fundraiser was organised at Skateaway Albany Creek on 5 May 2010 for skaters undertaking International Non-World Competition, including Oceania. This event was well attended. Five of our high achieving skaters will benefit from the proceeds of this function.

Round 2 of the Advanced League was conducted at Runaway Bay on 16 May 2010. This included the successful initial appearance of our two mini-precision teams in competition for the year. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

APRIL 2010

The 2010 Judges Seminar was held recently at the Super Sports Centre on the Gold Coast, including seven Pine Rivers Rollercade members (Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Kathleen McPhail, Vanessa Butson, Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick, Diane Chittick and Robert McPhail) as participants.  Keynote presenter was Jim Pollard, who is the head of CIPA (the world organisation which governs artistic rollerskating).  There were attendees from all over Australia and from New Zealand.  Club members who provided skating demonstrations for the judges included Bryan Lloyd-Jones, Bianca Burow, Vanessa Butson, Teresa Chittick, Kelsey Chittick and Courtney McVie.

MARCH 2010

Round 1 of the Elementary League for 2010 was held at Epic Skate Centre at South Tweed.  The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

Round 1 of the Advanced League for 2010 has held at Runaway Bay Indor Sports Centre on 21 March 2010. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

FEBRUARY 2010

The first Proficiency Test for 2010 was held at Bundamba on 7 February 2010.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a 100% pass rate. 

Round 1 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway on 21 February 2010.  For some of our skaters, this was their first inter-club competition.

JANUARY 2010

The first organised event for 2010 was the Sk8r-Aid Freeskating Seminar, presented by Jayson Sutcliffe, former world champion in men’s freeskating.  There was a high participation rate amongst Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters.

DECEMBER 2009

The final scheduled artistic skating event for 2009 was the Christmas Show Skate. Our skaters performed quite well with results that include:

> Medium Groups (Snow White) - First Place

> Strong performamces by our skaters in singles and pairs events

NOVEMBER 2009

The 2009 Pine Rivers Rollercade Roller Sports Club Championships were held at Skateaway Albany Creek on 1 November 2009. This event highlighted a successful year. Many of our skaters ventured outside their respective comfort zones by nominating for events where they do not normally compete, with positive results.

Recently, club skaters undertook Proficiency Tests at Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium on the Gold Coast and also at Skateaway Albany Creek. The pass rate for our skaters was quite high.

OCTOBER 2009

The 2009 Australian Artistic Championships were held at Carrara Indoor Stadium in early October. Major news arising from these championships is that Skate Australia selected three of our club skaters to represent Australia at the 2009 World Titles at Freiburg in Germany in November. The honoured skaters are:

- Teresa Chittick (Senior International Ladies Solo Dance)

- Kelsey Chittick (Junior International Ladies Solo Dance).

From results at the 2009 Australian Artistic Championships, Skate Australia selected skaters to represent Australia at the 2010 Oceania Championships at Wanganui in New Zealand. Pine Rivers Rollercade club skaters who were selected in the Australian Team are:

Round 3 of the Secondary League for 2009 was held at Digi with our skaters producing good performances. Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Secondary League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club won 1st Place.


SEPTEMBER 2009

Round 3 of the Elementary League for 2009 was held at Bundamba Skateaway in Ipswich with our skaters producing good performances. Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Elementary League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club won 1st Place.

AUGUST 2009

Round 3 of the Advanced League for 2009 was held at Carrara Indoor Stadium on the Gold Coast with strong performances from our skaters. Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Advanced League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club achieved 2nd Place.

The third round of the Novice Challenge was conducted at Bundamba on the first weekend in August. All of our skaters in this competition performed quite well. All competing club skaters received a Certificate of Participation from the Queensland Artistic Committee.

JULY 2009

The Oceania Artistic Championships (international competition between Australia and New Zealand) were held in Melbourne in early July. There were six club skaters selected by Skate Australia to represent Australia in these championships.

All of our skaters in the Australian team placed in the top three in their respective events and some skaters achieved first place. This is an outstanding outcome. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page.

JUNE 2009

 

The Queensland Artistic Championships were held on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June. These are the premier events on the Queensland skating calendar for the year. Club members and supporters were certainly colourful in the march past at the official opening on the Saturday night. Our skaters performed outstandingly at the Queensland Championships, with the skaters achieving a second place overall for Pine Rivers Rollercade Club . Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page.

Queensland Prep States, also held on the June Queen's Birthday weekend is a competition for our developing skaters in the Elementary and Secondary leagues to experience competing in a championship style stadium with open scoring. Our skaters performed exceedingly well with Pine Rivers Rollercade Club winning the the first place overall trophy. Oceania Championships 2015
Congratulations to the skaters from Pine Rivers Rollercade who competed at this international event which was held at Mt Warren Sports Centre from the 6th to the 10th April 2015.  Rory Armfield, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Drew Copeland, Kathleen McPhail, Cassandra Sellars and Megghann Thomas, along with coaches, Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick and Teresa Chittick, report that they had a really enjoyable experience and that all competitors had outstanding skates, the group finishing with several medals. Queensland Championships 2015
Congratulations to all of our Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters who competed in the Queensland Championships for 2015.  This competition was held at Mt Warren Park from 1-3 May 2015. A number of Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters and coaches participated in the very successful Cristina Moretti/ Jayson Sutcliffe Sk8Camp Seminar for Figures and Freeskating at Mt Warren Sports Centre 23-25 January 2015.

2014 Show Skate Results: On Sunday 14th December a number of skaters travelled to Mt Warren Park for the annual show skate competition.  It was a fun day with amazing displays of creative talent from all skaters!  Pine Rivers Rollercade was well represented and all skaters performed to the best of their ability on the day.   Keep your eyes peeled during the holidays for some of these wonderful skaters demonstrating their talents during regular skate sessions.

The 2014 Australian Artistic Championships was held at Mt warren Sports Centre, Hillcrest in July 2014. We extend our thanks to those members who are involved in the organisation and running of this huge event including our commissioned officials (Kathleen McPhail as Championship Directot and Referee and Robert McPhail and George Gollagher as Calculators) and to the parents and coaches (including Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick and Kelsey Chittick) whose support and commitment has made it possible for the competitors to reach this level of skating. 2014 AUSTRALIAN ARTISTIC TEAM – WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Based on their respective performances skating at the Australian Championships in Beenleigh, Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Jeus, Spain in September 2014.  These skaters are Teresa Chittick and Melanie Gollagher. Representing your country is an honour gained by only the top competitors in any sport and this is an outstanding achievement for these skaters.

2014 Queensland Artistic Roller Sports Championships These championships were held atMt Warren Sports Centre in April 2014.  Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters achievements resulted in our Club winning First Place overal. As a result of their achievements at these Championships, there are a number of our Club skaters who were selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Championships at Mt warren Sports Centre in July. Our skaters have returned from Sydney where they represented our club, Queensland and Australia in the Oceania Championships, held at the Whitlam Centre in Liverpool in western Sydney. Live streaming of the event allowed those of us at home to witness the magnificent skating that took place.  We are very proud of our skaters (Bianca Burow, Hannah Cole, Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher and Jaidan Hall) who participated in this competition. The standard of skating was extremely high and all our competitors should be proud of their skating performances. Congratulations go to all our competitors, with a special mention of our two medallists, Bianca Burrow and Teresa Chittick who placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the Senior International Dance event.

The 2012 Australian Artistic Championships was held at the Whitlam Centre, Liverpool in Sydney.  We extend our congratulations  to Kathleen McPhail who was elected as Chair of the Australian Artistic Committee (AAC) at the annual general meeting.  We also extend our thanks to those members who are involved in the organisation and running of this huge event including our commissioned officials (Diane Chittick as A Panel Referee; Kathleen McPhail as AAC Executive and Referee and Robert McPhail as Calculator) and to the parents and coaches (including Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Kathleen McPhail, Bianca Burow, Vanessa Butson and Teresa Chittick) whose support and commitment has made it possible for the competitors to reach this level of skating. OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2011

Christmas Show Skate for 2011 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium.  There was a strong club participation in this year's event with about 20 of our skaters competing. Our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Pine Rivers Rollercade Club Championships for 2011 were held at Albany Creek Skateaway.  This was the first experience in an artistic skating competition for a number of our Artistic Development Class skaters.  All competing skaters received participation medals.  Many of our skaters were in events where they do not normally compete or where the events were above their normal levels of competition.

I would like to thank Marty Surman for his strong support for our club championships, including donating rink hire time and Jodie Johnson-Garufo for mentoring our coaches.  I would also like to thank the officials who contributed actively to the running of the championships including Brett Johnston, Denise Wilson, Tony Keogh, Vanessa Butson, Mark Springett and Helen Lloyd-Jones.

Australian Championships for 2011 were held at Dandenong Netball Centre in Melbourne.  Individual experiences at Nationals ranged from first appearances to achieving multiple gold medals. There were 16 Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters who were selected to represent Queensland at the Australian Artistic Championships in Melbourne.  These skaters are Domynique Air, Lisa Brown, Sonya Brown, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Hannah Cole, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Kellie Hall, Anabel Jakob, Bryan Lloyd-Jones, Courtney McVie, Karen Osborne and Joel Young. 2011 Australian Artistic Team – World Championships

Based on their respective performances skating at the Australian Championships in Adelaide, some Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Brazil in November 2011.  These skaters are:

2012 Australian Artistic Team - Oceania Championships

As a result of their individual performances skating at the Australian Championships in Melbourne, a number of our Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships in New Zealand in April 2012.  These skaters are shown as follows:

MAY 2011

The 2011 Oceania Artistic Roller Sports Championships were held at the Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre.  The 10 Pine Rivers Rollercade members, who represented Australia in this international competition, are Lisa Brown, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick. Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Bethany McKernan, Courtney McVie and Karen Osborne.  Congratulations go to all of our skaters who achieved at least one gold medal each, which is an outstanding achievement. APRIL 2011

Round 1 of the Elementary League for 2011 was held at Digi Skate Centre, Hillcrest.  This was the first competition for some of our skaters at this level.  Pine Rivers Rollercade members who contributed to the conduct of the event included our commissioned officials (Kathleen McPhail, Robert Mcphail and Diane Chittick) and Corinne Copeland as a referee.  Overall, our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the results page of this web site.

Round 1 of the Secondary League for 2011 was held at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Centre.  Overall, our skaters performed well and results for individuals are shown on the results page of this web site.

There have been two Proficiency Test centres conducted recently on Sunday 27 February 2011 at Albany Creek Skateaway and on Sunday 10 April 2011 at Runaway Indoor Stadium.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a high pass rate. 

Ten Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters were selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Championships on the Gold Coast in April 2011.  These skaters are Lisa Brown, Bianca Burow, Kelsey Chittick, Teresa Chittick, Breeana Copeland, Melanie Gollagher, Jaidan Hall, Bethany McKernan, Courtney McVie and Karen Osborne.

We wish all the best to our skaters in representing Australia at these championships.

JANUARY TO MARCH 2011

The Australian Artistic Committee presented the High Performance Development Camp with Australian coaches Allan Wehlow & Tamera Russell (Figures), Gawaine Davis (Dance), Susan Brooks (Freeskating) with additional guest coaches Karen Olsen and Anita Lloyd-Jones and assistance by Aleesha Hanczakowski,.  The Development Camp was held on Saturday 22 / Sunday 23 January at Runaway Bay Sports Stadium.  Those invited included Skate Australia Competitive members (including Masters), Coaches of all levels and Officials.  There were 21 Pine Rivers Rollercade club members who participated in the seminar.

The first major Proficiency Test of 2011 was held on Sunday 13 February at Runaway Bay Sports Stadium.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a very high pass rate.  One of the highlights included Teresa Chittick, who attained the prestigious Gold Medal in Solo Dance.

An additional Proficiency Test was held on Sunday 27 February at Albany Creek Skateaway.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a very high pass rate.

Round 1 of the Advanced League for 2011 was held at Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium. Our skaters performed well, including those in this League for the first time and those moving to higher grade of competition.  Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

DECEMBER 2010

Christmas Show Skate for 2010 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium.  The main focus of the club’s involvement in Show Skate was the Large Group event, which involved a team effort from all the club members and their parents to produce an excellent outcome.  Jodie Garufo choreographed an entertaining and technically challenging skating routine (Happy Birthday Princess) that was well appreciated by both the judges and the general public.  Most of the 54 skaters involved were Pine Rivers Rollercade members with the other skaters being hockey players from the Pine Rivers Dragons club and a hockey referee.

Contributing to the success of the final performance included:
>The coaches that helped keep the routine on track while Jodie  was away at the World Titles
>The team procuring costumes and the parents who helped with costume changes during the performance
>The team obtaining smaller size props and placing them at various points for the performance
>The team building, transporting and moving into place large props, including the ‘cake’ structure.

 

NOVEMBER 2010

Pine Rivers Rollercade Club Championships for 2010 were held at Albany Creek Skateaway.  This was the first experience in an artistic skating competition for a number of our Artistic Development Class skaters.  All competing skaters received participation medals.  Many of our skaters were in events where they do not normally compete or where the events were above their normal levels of competition.

I would like to thank Marty Surman for his strong support for our club championships, including donating rink hire time and Jodie Johnson-Garufo for mentoring our coaches.  I would also like to thank those who contributed actively to the running of the championships including Diane Chittick, Lisa Duell, Bev Folland and Bev Wan (as referees), Kathryn Ball, Jim Beard, Brett Johnston, Christine Keogh, John Lane and Mark Springett (as judges), Jasmin Ball and Helen Lloyd-Jones (as calculators) and Adam Clough and Bryan Lloyd-Jones for partnering our skaters in the drawn partners events.

Fundraising

Your support of fundraising ventures so far this year has enabled positive financial assistance for our skaters.  The latest fundraising project was to assist our skaters (Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick and Kelsey Chittick) who represented Australia at the World Artistic Championships in Portugal. 

I would like to thank Riverlife Adventure Centre and the Story Bridge Hotel for donating multiple prizes and John Pettigrew who arranged for the donations.  The prizes were:

  1. two people to any Daytime Adventure activity
  2. two people to the Saturday night paddle and barbecue experience
  3. two Story Bridge Climbs
  4. $100 voucher to the Story Bridge Hotel for food and beverage

Marty Surman conducted the prize draw during the Showskate practice. 

OCTOBER 2010

Australian Championships for 2010 were held at ETSA Park in Adelaide.  Individual experiences at Nationals ranged from first appearances to achieving multiple gold medals.  Representing Queensland in competition is a great honour.  Overall, our skaters performed very well and results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

SEPTEMBER 2010

Competitions

Round 3 of the Advanced League for 2010 was held at Carrara Indoor Stadium on the Gold Coast with strong performances from our skaters. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Advanced League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club achieved 3rd Place overall for 2010.

Round 3 of the Elementary League for 2010 was held at Epic Skate Centre, South Tweed with strong performances from our skaters. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Elementary League. Congratulations go to Pine Rivers Rollercade Club skaters who won 1st Place overall for 2010.

Fundraising

The skating Fundraiser Night at Albany Creek Skateaway on 1 September 2010 to raise funds for skaters going to Nationals 2010 was an outstanding success.  I would like to acknowledge and thank the contributions of a range of people who contributed to the success of this event and these people are listed as follows:

  1. Marty Surman and his team at Skateaway Albany Creek for successfully hosting the fundraiser
  2. Marty Surman for arranging the production of professionally designed publicity flyers
  3. Vanessa Butson, Bianca Burow and Teresa Chittick who planned the event

  5. Everyone who made the effort to support our Nationals skaters by attending the event.

Raffle tickets were sold over the past few weeks and the raffle was drawn on the Fundraiser Night.  I would like to acknowledge and thank those who donated prizes and those members who arranged these donations.

The Tool Kit Raffle prize was proudly donated by Vince Zenoni, Director of C & L United Tools at Hendra: John McVie arranged for this donation.  The Blanket Raffle Prize was donated and arranged by Corinne Copeland.

AUGUST 2010

Round 3 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Runaway Indoor Sports Stadium on 8 August. This was the first competition for our Novice Challenge skaters on a larger size wooden floor. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

A Fundraiser night is being planned to raise funds for our skaters who are representing Queensland at the Australian Artistic Roller Sports Championships in Adelaide this October. The fundraiser is scheduled for 6.30 pm on 1 September 2010 at Albany Creek Skateaway.

JULY 2010

Lisa Brown, Bianca Burow, Bethany McKernan and Vanessa Butson represented Australia at the Oceania Championships in Wanganui in New Zealand. They all skated well and Bianca Burow achieved a 2nd Place result in Senior International Solo Dance.

Round 2 of the Secondary League was held at Bundamba Skateaway in mid July.  Our club members achieved good overall outcomes, with the results for individuals shown on the Results Page of ths web site.

Elementary League Round 2 was held at Runaway Bay Indoor Sports Complex at the very end of June.  Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

JUNE 2010

The Queensland Artistic Roller Sports Championships and Queensland Prep States were held concurrently on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, 12-14 June 2010.  These form the premier events on the Queensland artistic skating calendar for the year. The Championships and Prep States attract skaters from all over the State.

Our skaters performed outstandingly at the Queensland Championships, with the club skaters achieving a Third Place Overall. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Congratulations go to our skaters who performed outstandingly with the club receiving the First Place Overall Trophy for Queensland Prep States. This competition is open to skaters in the Advanced, Secondary and Elementary leagues for competition in a championship environment with open scoring. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page of this web site.

Continuing this month’s skater achievements is Teresa Chittick, who competed in international competition at the California Memorial Invitational held in California in the USA.  Teresa achieved a 2nd Place result in Senior World Class Solo Dance. Congratulations go to Teresa on this fine achievement.

MAY 2010

May 2010 was a very busy month with achievements and milestones for our skaters.

Round 2 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway on 2 May. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page. On the same day, there was a Proficiency Test conducted for our club members and our skaters achieved a very high pass rate.

A skating fundraiser was organised at Skateaway Albany Creek on 5 May 2010 for skaters undertaking International Non-World Competition, including Oceania. This event was well attended. Five of our high achieving skaters will benefit from the proceeds of this function.

Round 2 of the Advanced League was conducted at Runaway Bay on 16 May 2010. This included the successful initial appearance of our two mini-precision teams in competition for the year. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

APRIL 2010

The 2010 Judges Seminar was held recently at the Super Sports Centre on the Gold Coast, including seven Pine Rivers Rollercade members (Jodie Johnson-Garufo, Kathleen McPhail, Vanessa Butson, Bianca Burow, Teresa Chittick, Diane Chittick and Robert McPhail) as participants.  Keynote presenter was Jim Pollard, who is the head of CIPA (the world organisation which governs artistic rollerskating).  There were attendees from all over Australia and from New Zealand.  Club members who provided skating demonstrations for the judges included Bryan Lloyd-Jones, Bianca Burow, Vanessa Butson, Teresa Chittick, Kelsey Chittick and Courtney McVie.

MARCH 2010

Round 1 of the Elementary League for 2010 was held at Epic Skate Centre at South Tweed.  The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

Round 1 of the Advanced League for 2010 has held at Runaway Bay Indor Sports Centre on 21 March 2010. The results for our club members who competed are shown on the results page.

FEBRUARY 2010

The first Proficiency Test for 2010 was held at Bundamba on 7 February 2010.  Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters recorded a 100% pass rate. 

Round 1 of the Novice Challenge for 2010 was held at Albany Creek Skateaway on 21 February 2010.  For some of our skaters, this was their first inter-club competition.

JANUARY 2010

The first organised event for 2010 was the Sk8r-Aid Freeskating Seminar, presented by Jayson Sutcliffe, former world champion in men’s freeskating.  There was a high participation rate amongst Pine Rivers Rollercade skaters.

DECEMBER 2009

The final scheduled artistic skating event for 2009 was the Christmas Show Skate. Our skaters performed quite well with results that include:

> Medium Groups (Snow White) - First Place

> Strong performamces by our skaters in singles and pairs events

NOVEMBER 2009

The 2009 Pine Rivers Rollercade Roller Sports Club Championships were held at Skateaway Albany Creek on 1 November 2009. This event highlighted a successful year. Many of our skaters ventured outside their respective comfort zones by nominating for events where they do not normally compete, with positive results.

Recently, club skaters undertook Proficiency Tests at Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium on the Gold Coast and also at Skateaway Albany Creek. The pass rate for our skaters was quite high.

OCTOBER 2009

The 2009 Australian Artistic Championships were held at Carrara Indoor Stadium in early October. Major news arising from these championships is that Skate Australia selected three of our club skaters to represent Australia at the 2009 World Titles at Freiburg in Germany in November. The honoured skaters are:

- Teresa Chittick (Senior International Ladies Solo Dance)

- Kelsey Chittick (Junior International Ladies Solo Dance).

At the official opening of the Australian Championships, Skate Australia made the following national annual awards to our club members:

Round 3 of the Elementary League for 2009 was held at Bundamba Skateaway in Ipswich with our skaters producing good performances. Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Elementary League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club won 1st Place.

AUGUST 2009

Round 3 of the Advanced League for 2009 was held at Carrara Indoor Stadium on the Gold Coast with strong performances from our skaters. Trophies are also awarded for overall performance over the three rounds of the Advanced League. Pine Rivers Rollercade Club achieved 2nd Place.

The third round of the Novice Challenge was conducted at Bundamba on the first weekend in August. All of our skaters in this competition performed quite well. All competing club skaters received a Certificate of Participation from the Queensland Artistic Committee.

JULY 2009

The Oceania Artistic Championships (international competition between Australia and New Zealand) were held in Melbourne in early July. There were six club skaters selected by Skate Australia to represent Australia in these championships.

All of our skaters in the Australian team placed in the top three in their respective events and some skaters achieved first place. This is an outstanding outcome. Results for individuals are shown on the Results Page.

JUNE 2009

 

The Queensland Artistic Championships were held on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June. These are the premier events on the Queensland skating calendar for the year. Club members and supporters were certainly colourful in the march past at the official opening on the Saturday night. Our skaters performed outstandingly at the Queensland Championships, with the skaters achieving a second place overall for Pine Rivers Rollercade Club . Queensland Prep States, also held on the June Queen's Birthday weekend is a competition for our developing skaters in the Elementary and Secondary leagues to experience competing in a championship style stadium with open scoring. Our skaters performed exceedingly well with Pine Rivers Rollercade Club winning the the first place overall trophy. Results for individuals are also shown on the Results Page.
